JOPLIN METRO AREA — A meteor or 'fireball' blazed through the early morning sky over the region early Friday morning, January 20, 2023.Reports to the American Meteor Society come from NE Oklahoma and SW Missouri indicate it occurred about 3:38 a.m.One of our Joplin News First friends, Gregg Ewing, caught it on his doorbell camera in the Joplin area. Some reported it made a large boom. Gregg said his camera didn't catch a noise with it.The American Meteor Society shows the reports and locations to be hundreds of miles apart from Joplin to Tulsa.
